Enormous EAST hero opens new season Friday at Purdue Fall Invite
The guarding BIG EAST hero DePaul men’s tennis crew opens the 2021-22 season on Friday contending in two competitions throughout the end of the week.
The Blue Demons travel to West Lafayette, Ind. for the Purdue Fall Invite while after a day, BIG EAST Player of the Year Vito Tonejc and profoundly appraised green bean Marino Jakic will join a solid public field in the lofty Milwaukee Tennis Classic that draws the top school tennis players.
The fall competition season proceeds with Sept. 24-26 at the Bobby Bayliss Invitational facilitated by Notre Dame. The next end of the week discovers mentor Matt Brothers and his group in East Lansing, Mich. for the MSU Invite facilitated by Michigan State.
From Oct. 2-9, Tonejc and Jakic have equipped for one of the top Intercollegiate Tennis Association’s head occasions, the ITA All-American Championship at Tulsa, Okla.
The fall season closes with the Redbird Invite at Illinois State (Oct. 8-10), Louisville Invitational (Oct. 15-17) and the ITA Midwest Regional Oct. 21-25 at Michigan State.
The way to a recurrent BIG EAST title starts Jan. 14, 2022 when DePaul opens the double match season against Florida Atlantic in the Arthur Ashe Invite at West Point, N.Y. After 24 hours, the Blue Demons take on have Army West Point.
The street swing proceeds with Jan. 22 with a couple of matches in Madison, Wisconsin. Up first is North Dakota with the host Badgers after that.
DePaul’s home opener is Jan. 30 with a matchup against city rival UIC at its new home court, XS Tennis on the South Side. It’s back out and about Feb. with matches against Purdue and Saint Louis in West Lafayette, Ind.
The “Band of Brothers” heads to Corpus Christi, Texas Feb. 18 and 19 for three double matches in the continually difficult H-E-B Tournament of Champions. That is trailed by consecutive home matches – Feb. 26 against BIG EAST rival Georgetown and Feb. 27 versus Illinois State.
The Blue Demons will spend the whole month of March away from Lincoln Park, visiting North Carolina, Nevada and California. First up is Davidson on March 4 and UNC Charlotte the following day with both matches in Charlotte, N.C.
It’s headed toward Las Vegas close to take on UNLV on March 12 and Seattle on March 13. The street swing closes with matches against Loyola Marymount March 22 in Los Angeles, at UC Irvine on March 23 and wrapping up with Dartmouth on March 25 in LA.
In arrangement to safeguard their BIG EAST crown, the Blue Demons close out the standard season with four sequential gathering matches – all at XS Tennis. April 2 carries Creighton toward the South Side with Marquette giving the resistance on April 3. Steward visits XS Tennis on April 10 and Xavier closes the normal season on April 16.
The BIG EAST Championship starts on April 22 with the quarterfinals in Cayce, S.C. The elimination rounds are set for April 23 and the championship is April 24.
